Denise Tam

Functional Nutritionist

Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Integrative Mental Health Coach (NN0843)

I believe we are all created to thrive and live an abundant life. Having overcome stage 4 cancer twice, I approach both my work and my life with deep compassion and empathy for the challenges others face. My journey has strengthened my belief in the body’s incredible ability to heal and regenerate — and in the truth that we are each born with a great purpose and an inherent capacity for greatness.

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Integrative Mental Health Coach with the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners, my approach weaves together functional medicine principles, nutrition, and nervous system regulation to support my clients in achieving optimal mind-body wellness.

One of my greatest passions lies in supporting brain health and neurodivergent individuals by exploring the deep connection between the gut, the brain, and the nervous system.

I’ve completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) program with the Institute for Functional Medicine, which has strengthened my ability to help clients understand their unique biochemistry and uncover the root causes of challenges such as brain fog, low energy, anxiety, poor focus, and difficulty with mood regulation.

I believe in working at the root — understanding the body’s intricate systems and how they influence one another. My work combines evidence-based nutrition, functional medicine testing, and individualized support to help clients create harmony within both the brain and body.

I address the underlying factors that influence brain function and nervous system regulation, including:

  • Gut dysfunction and microbiome imbalance
  • Immune dysregulation and chronic inflammation
  • Food sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies
  • Mitochondrial health and energy production
  • Metabolic imbalances affecting mood and cognition

Beyond one-on-one work, I’m passionate about bringing this message to a wider audience. As a contributing author to Saved by Nutrition and a speaker for global organizations such as Morgan Stanley, EY, and HSBC, I share evidence-informed insights on how nutrition and lifestyle can empower both general health and emotional well-being.

My mission is to help individuals understand the incredible connection between the brain and the body — and to create harmony within those systems so they can thrive mentally, emotionally, and physically.
